A. Describe the extent to which the SID Parameters were achieved.

Reading and Literacy - Literacy... Professional development days held on 9/30/2002, 2/14/2003 to build understanding and expansion of literacy programs already in place at the school. (Orton-Gillingham, Laubach, and the Accelerated Reading Program.) Extended use of library to facilitate more efficient use of the Accelerated Reading Program. Increase student opportunities for research and library skills by expanded use of the library.

Staff Development to improve reading and literacy. February 14, 2003. Guest speaker, Dr. Ed. Kameenui, University of Oregon. SDRT (Stanford Diagnostic Reading Test) Gates MacGintie Reading Assessment. Teacher feedback log and progress report. ARP testing log to show student gains and progress. Pre-Post testing for reading levels Authentic - Student Portfolios Classroom observation and assessment High Stakes - HCPS II Affective Behavior - School Quality Survey

ESLL students were tested on the LAS-Oral and LAS-Read and Write. Form 801 and in May-electronic reporting through EDF was sent to State (NSSB)and District in a timely manner. ESLL students were placed in remedial class and taught by trained Orton Gillingham teacher.

Career and Life Skills .... Professional development day held on 3/22/2003 to explore other programs to develop career pathways within our voc. tech. program. (Visitation to High Core and Leilehua Academies)

 

B. Evaluate the implementation of the Standards Implementation Action Plan.
    1. Describe the changes, adjustments, and/or modifications made to the Action Plan and the reasons.

Health and Safety mandate addressed.

Negligent and Delinquent population added to SID action plan.

Title I population for school-wide participation added to SID action plan.

Revisions of SID plan to include NCLB components.

Revision and restructuring of SID cadres to SID work and task forces for school yr. 2003-2004.

Possible changes for mission and vision.

 

    2. Describe the extent to which studen achievements targets were met.

Career and Life Skills.... March 15, 2003. Student representatives from Olomana School attend the first annual Service Learning Conference. The students were on a panel of who spoke on how service-learning impacted their lives.

 

    3. Describe the extent to which other targets (cross-cutting issues) were met, if applicable.

Developed and integrated an art program into the curriculum of language arts, social studies and science.

Community Involvement.... Involved community and other schools in a weight lifting contest to build community and school relationships.

Health and Safety.... School Inspection Team. Kailua Complex Business Manager, Kalaheo Complex Business Manager and Rep. from the office of David Pendleton evaluated Olomana. (Quality Evaluation Summary Report) QSER-12/04/2002 Total points scored 18/18 Ground - 3, Building Factor - 3, Building interior - 3, Furniture equipment - 3, Health and Safety Sanitation - 3. Service learning through work with elementary schools about water quality and how a hydroponics plant is run.
