[SID PROCESS, TASK 7]
School Year: 2003-2004

School: Olomana

Date: 6/2/04

A. Describe the extent to which the SID Parameters were achieved.

In the last two years, the restructuring of our SID workforce has brought much clarity to the action plan . We were able to achieve our goals and went beyond to improve on them. We also studied our action plan and agreed that it needs improvement as to how each goal was to be addressed. We are still working on improving our data collection. Unlike other schools, Olomana is a school within a school. It is a monumental task to collect data from all sites. This will be our focus next school year. Our vision and mission changed so students can both identify and relate to the mission of our school . Olomana will continue to work on literacy through reading and writing and career planning.

B. Evaluate the implementation of the Standards Implementation Action Plan.
    1. Describe the changes, adjustments, and/or modifications made to the Action Plan and the reasons.

For the year 2004-2007 we rewrote our SID goals, benchmarks and rationale .SID is now in the format of the 6 Images of Success. The vision and mission were revisited on PD day, we worked on an agreement to accept the vision and mission statement. Goal 1- Literacy and Goal 2 Career Planning was reorganized as what to change or implement under the format of 6 images.

This was the final school year for the 3 yr. SID plan. SID plan was rewritten and revised to reflect changes in school focus and goals affecting the school years 2004-2007. The vision and mission were revisited and agreed upon on a PD day. The following is the mission and vision of the school. Olomana School’s Mission is the starfish. (See Olomana School Website) Olomana School’s Vision is: Through a curriculum built on rigor, relevance and relationships students can better connect to real life and its challenges. Olomana School strives to bring a measure of success to a forgotten population by providing opportunities to develop career and life skills through hands-on, project-based learning.

The new SID will reflect a focus on the following: Standards –Based Outcome Goal 1: Literacy through Reading and Writing Standards –Based Outcome Goal 2: Career and Life Skills

    2. Describe the extent to which student achievements targets were met.

The faculty was involved during PD days with SID activities. At subsequent meetings, agreements led to a school wide progress report that aligned with the GLOs.This year, writing across curriculum was promoted through our school newspaper Ka Pana Olomana.
